Things have changed this year and many kids are doing virtual school while many parents have the opportunity to work from home. Although this change may be frustrating, I like to look for a silver lining. When you can work from home, you can work from anywhere. Why not take your virtual life on the road! In this podcast episode, we explore taking a schoolcation.
In the past, the staycation became popular with families taking vacation time and spending it at home. People would do anything from being tourists in their own towns to using the time to work on home improvement projects.
Well, after months of lockdown and stay at home orders, the last thing I need is a staycation. Now, with families working and schooling remotely, we have a new opportunity to take a schoolcation where you can mash up your remote work and virtual school with a vacation.
The Schoolcation
Picture this. You fly out on an evening flight after work and school on Tuesday. You check into a great villa at Disney or a suite at Universal. The one-bedroom villa or family suite gives you the extra space to spread out to do work and school.
Wednesday through Friday you do work and school as usual. You work from your room or maybe head to one of the public spaces that are not busy. If school has a lunch break or recess, you can head down to the pool for a fast swim or grab a bite to eat at the hotel. Once school and work are over for the day, you are set up for the best afternoon and evening. Go for a swim, eat out, or visit City Walk or Disney Springs.
Come Saturday and Sunday you are ready for a vacation weekend. Visit Disney or Universal, do a day at Discovery Cove, or just lounge by the pool. Work on Monday, take the day off to travel, or fly back Sunday evening. Whatever works best for your family.
Everyone needs a change of venue, a different environment, a time to refresh, and fun family time. Have you considered a schoolcation or a way you take advantage of this new freedom that virtual schooling and working remotely offers? We would love to talk with you more about what opportunities you may have to get away for a little adventure.
