Couples and Adults Only
If your travel party only has adults, you are on your honeymoon, or a couples trip, you may consider Virgin Voyages. First of all, this is the only cruise line that is adults only. For many, this is appealing. No kids has two implications. First, there are no kids on board, so no strollers to deal with, kids crying or misbehaving, etc. Second, it affects the way the ship is designed. There are no areas used for kids, so more space for adults. There are no kids clubs, kids pool, kids buffet, etc. The food is top notch if you are a foodie since they don’t have to appeal to kids’ pallets. The entertainment is geared toward adults as well. This can be a welcome change if you are looking for an adult experience.
Families Who Are Disney Fans
If you are a family who loves Disney, there is nothing better than Disney Cruise Line. In fact, you may consider a cruise instead of a theme park vacation because so much is included and you get all the magic with a lot more relaxation involved. On a cruise you can get your Mickey waffles, premium Mickey bars, a full Disney show each night, character meet and greets, and so much more!!
They also have lots of rooms that sleep five and many connecting rooms that make it great for larger families and multigenerational groups.
As a side note, if you are a couple without children and are also huge Disney fans then this cruise is for you too! You will love the adult spaces, enjoy the Disney magic, and maybe treat yourself to a concierge room for the additional luxury. A Disney cruise will check all your Disney vacation boxes. Plus, it gives you relaxation, pool time, beach time, meals included, and much more.
Families Who Are Not Huge Disney Fans
If your family isn’t in love with a Disney vacation then a Royal Caribbean cruise is the place to be. These ships are great for families. They have engaging kids clubs, lots of food venues, and many adventures and activities on board. Depending on the ship, you may find a zip line, flow rider, laser tag, bumper cars, water park, mini golf, escape rooms, ice rinks, and more. The best part is that all of those activities are included in the price.
Royal Caribbean has great entertainment with most ships having a Broadway show along with some original productions. There are also ships that have ice shows and aqua theater diving shows that are really outstanding.
Royal Caribbean also has many itineraries. If they are your preferred cruise line, you can take cruises from the Caribbean to Alaska to Europe. They have so many ships that they have a huge variety of itineraries.
Multigenerational Groups
We think cruises are one of the best travel options for family groups that include the grandparents, children, and grandchildren. Cruise ships offer options for various age groups and family members can do things together and separate on a cruise ship, but never really be that far apart. We have more information on Multigenerational Travel Tips on a previous episode of our podcast.
When it comes to cruising, we think Disney Cruise Line and Royal Caribbean Cruise Line does it best. This goes back to the previous points. If the family has been traveling to Disney since childhood, then a Disney Cruise is a great next step. They have lots of connecting rooms, can arrange dining to be together, and you may even be able to set up a group for additional benefits.
Royal Caribbean Cruise Line also has options with connecting rooms, lots of variety on board for everyone, and a great groups program. The groups program can bring some extra benefits and of course, you can plan for everyone to eat together at dinner.
I know we only scratched the surface of cruise lines, so if you are thinking of a cruise, the best thing is to contact one of our agents who can get more details about your family or group and match you with the best option. There are other great cruise lines we can book you with as well.
