May the 4th be with you. It’s May and we want to talk about Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is a popular attraction at Disneyland in California and Hollywood Studios in Florida. Both lands are identical and we are so excited to talk to you about these lands and share our excitement about the total immersive experience you can have.
The Experience
First, let’s talk about the overall experience. Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is a place where you can visit the Black Spire Outpost and live your own Star Wars story. This is an immersive land you will want to experience and spend time in. You’ll see some familiar faces, but they are not there for photos and autographs. Everyone is there to experience and live their Star Wars story.
The Attractions
There are two main attractions in the land: Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run and Rise of the Resistance. Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run gives you the opportunity to ride in the Millennium Falcon. While you are waiting for your turn in the cockpit, enjoy walking through the Falcon. Once it’s your turn, you are assigned to be one of two pilots, gunners, or engineers.
Rise of the Resistance is one of the most unique experiences I have ever had. Throughout the adventure, you work through multiple experiences. The entire line queue is part of the story and experience. You are asked to help the Resistance, but on the way to the outpost things go wrong and you end up where any Resistance sympathizer would not want to be. I think it’s best to go into this experience without a spoiler. Just know you are going to love it!
The Food
There are quite a few options to experience food in Galaxy’s Edge.
Docking Bay 7
The main quick service location is Docking Bay 7 that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. You can use mobile order or just walk up (no reservation needed). Indoor and outdoor seating is available.
Oga’s Cantina
Oga’s Cantina is a fun place to get out-of-this-world drinks. It’s open all day and serves special concoctions in the morning and other drinks for the rest of the day. You MUST have a reservation for this location. They have both alcoholic and non-alcoholic options. It’s fun for the whole family!
Oga’s Cantina is mostly standing room only and you should expect to spend about 45 minutes. There are a few snack type food items on the menu, but drinks are their specialty. None of the dining plans are accepted here.
Ronto Roasters
Ronto Roasters is another quick service location that is more of a stand to grab wraps such as sausage in a pita. There are a few chairs, but no main eating area. It’s right outside the Marketplace and accepts quick service credits.
The Milk Stand
The Milk Stand should be on your list. This walk-up drink stand serves blue and green milk (with or without alcohol). It is a must-try while you are in Galaxy’s Edge.
Soda Stands
There are also soda stands throughout the land that sell Coke products in really unique bottles. You can use a snack credit for these.
Other Experiences
Savi’s Workshop
If you want to make a lightsaber, visit Savi’s Workshop. A reservation is needed for each person that wants to make one and a child can bring one adult with them to help. The entrance is a little secretive since lightsabers are illegal at the Black Spire Outpost.
Droid Depot
Droid Depot is where you build and customize your own droid. They have the R series (like R2D2) and the B series (like BB-8). Reservations are required for each person making a droid.
Data Pad
A great way to experience the land is the Data Pad in the Disney Parks Play App. I love to complete missions, translate signs, and listen to transmissions.
Marketplace Water Fountain
Be sure to check out the water fountain in the Marketplace. The sign there is one of my favorites.
Star Wars Hotel
We are looking forward to the new “Star Wars Hotel” at Walt Disney World in Florida that is anticipated to open in 2021. Upon arrival, you board the Galactic Starcruiser called the Halcyon where you live during your stay. You get to book your own trip at this amazing resort. We think of this just like booking a cruise where there are set departure dates and length of stay. You could do this before or after your Disney World vacation.
At this time we believe it will be a two day/two night stay. You arrive at the “terminal” where your family is taken in a pod off to your starcruiser, the Halcyon. Once you arrive you’ll live your Star Wars story on the Galactic Starcruiser. Reservations are expected to open later this year, but could be delayed due to current events. Find out more about this all-immersive adventure in this video.
