A common question we are often asked is, “are there all inclusives in the US?” 30 years ago, the answer was no..but things they are a changing.
History of “All Inclusives”
All Inclusives were created as a draw to pull people to destinations that were deemed “unsafe” as an option to visit the destination and never have to leave the safety of the resort.
The first All Inclusive resort was a Club Med resort and was primarily marketed toward singles. In the early 90’s this changed and All Inclusives began marketing to families and couples. Rather quickly, all inclusives became excellent destinations for Destination Weddings.
What IS an All Inclusive?
An “All Inclusive” is exactly as it sounds. ONE price for ALL amenities including food, activities (although this can vary by resort), and beverages. For resorts that are family friendly, kid care or kid “camps” are included in this inclusive price as well. Depending on the destination, some All Inclusives included gratuity in the total price as well.
Initially, “All Inclusives” were not available in the United States, however, as travel has changed, more and more resorts are included All Inclusive packages.
