Never been to Disneyland? Need some help planning your trip? Here are our Top 10 Tips for Disneyland.
#1 Download the Disneyland App
The Disneyland App has so many great features and you will need them all on your Disneyland vacation. Some of my favorites are showtimes, park hours, and ride wait times. You can also view any dining reservations you have. Be sure to download the app and become familiar with it before you leave home.
#2 Fastpass
Fastpasses will help you get on more rides in less time. All you have to do is go to the fastpass distribution center next to the ride you plan to fastpass. Above the entrance it will show you what time your fastpass return time will be if you get a fastpass at that time. Put in a ticket for each guest that wants to ride the attraction and collect the fastpass ticket for each person. Come back to the attraction during the one hour window on your fastpass and you can enter through the fastpass entrance which will have a much shorter wait than the standby line. Fastpasses are free and available to all guests.
#3 Photopass
Photopass photographers are all over the parks and ready to take your pictures. Whether its a family picture that EVERYONE is in or a magic shot that will bring some special surprises to your photos its always a good idea to get a photo taken by a photopass photographer.
#4 Maxpass
For the best use of fastpass and photopass you will want to upgrade to maxpass. Maxpass is a small upcharge per person and will allow you to choose your fastpasses right from your phone using the Disneyland app and will include a download of all your photopass photos from the day.
#5 Extra Magic Hour
For guests staying at one of the onsite Disneyland hotels you will be able to enter one of the parks an hour early each day for Extra Magic Hour. Since this is a perk for the onsite guests you will be able to experience the parks with lower crowds and enjoy shorter wait times. Make sure to take advantage of this perk if you are an onsite guest.
#6 Make Dining Reservation on the App or Disneyland.com
There are lots of great places to eat at Disneyland. Some locations are at the hotels, some are at Downtown Disney, and some are in the parks. Either way, if you are hoping to get a table at one of the popular restaurants you will want to make reservations and the easiest way to do that is on the Disneyland App. Check out our recommendations for Top 10 Disneyland Restaurants.
#7 Use Mobile Order
Mobile order through the Disneyland App will save you so much time. You can head to the restaurant and order from your table or order while you are line for an attraction before you head to a meal. It saves so much time when the lines for food are long!
#8 Stroller and Locker Rentals
If you have little ones in tow or have more things than you want to carry around then take advantage of a stroller or locker rental. This will make getting around the Disneyland parks even easier for you.
#9 Baby Care Centers
If you are traveling with a baby or toddler you will want to use the Baby Care Centers. These locations have everything you need to take care of a baby in a great facility. They have nursing rooms, changing tables, a feeding area, as well as a sink and microwave. If you need to purchase baby supplies you will find everything you need there too. At Disneyland it is located by first aid on Main Street and at California Adventure it is by Ghirardelli’s Soda Fountain.
#10 Rider Switch and Single Rider
If you have younger children that can’t ride an attraction due to a height restriction you can take advantage of Rider Switch. One adult stays off the ride with the child while the rest of the party rides the attraction. Once they get off the attraction they can switch with the adult who stayed off and ride without waiting in the regular queue. Another option is the Single Rider line. If you are traveling alone or all members of your party are over 7 and you don’t mind being separated you can use the single rider line. If you are interested just ask the cast member at the entrance of the ride if Rider Switch or Single Rider is available.
