“What is your favorite time of year to go to Disney?” or ” When is the best time to travel to Disney?” must be some of the most popular questions I get as a travel agent and Disney specialist. I usually joke, “Anytime I’m in Disney is my favorite” because there is something magical about being in Disney anytime of year. But, in all honesty, if I could pick one month I would say October is my favorite time of year to be in Disney. There are lots of reasons for this though.
Weather: I love the weather in October in Florida. It is similar to April where you can have warm if not hot days but it cools off at night. The heat is not usually as oppressive as it can be in the summer with the high humidity but, even if you get a really hot day it does cool off so you get a break from it.
Lack of Crowds: October seems to be among one of the less crowded months in Disney. You won’t find the parks completely empty but it won’t be packed like other more popular times. I would say the parks have enough people to make it magical. If its too empty I think it feels sort of weird. Maybe that’s just me.
Price: October is labeled as the Fall Season when it comes to price. Although it is not the cheapest time of year to go it is pretty close. There is often a great promotion such as Free Dining available during this time as well so all in all its a great deal. We usually get the dining plan and schedule a few character meals for the kids (that includes me).
Food and Wine Festival: I LOVE the Food and Wine Festival in Epcot. In fact my husband said that when the kids are grown he would love to go to Disney for a long weekend just the two of us and spend the whole time at the Food and Wine Festival. (That is huge since he has already said that we have been to Disney enough times. Of course I agree on the Food and Wine Festival trip but not on the too many trips to Disney. I don’t believe there is such a thing!)
Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party: Although I am not a big fan of Halloween (don’t go crazy, I just don’t like it) I know for some this is a really fun and special event. When else can you dress up your whole family and go trick or treating around the Magic Kingdom?
Morale: This is just something personal but since I got married in September we have always done a fall vacation. First it was our honeymoon to Bermuda, then our first anniversary trip to Disney. Since then we have always done a trip in the fall. After summer is over and its back to school its such a morale boost for me to have one last hurrah to look forward too. One more chance to swim and get some sun before we put it all away for the season. I love a fall vacation!
So, if I had to pick my favorite month in Disney it would be October. We have had several fall trips over the years and I have fallen in love with that time of year. What is your favorite month in Disney and why? Do you agree with me on any of these or do you have another reason?
