When you think of Walt Disney World you think of the amazing theme parks, unique water parks, Disney Springs, the restaurants, and the resorts. But here are 3 activities you may not have even known were an option at Walt Disney World.
Bass Fishing Excursions
WHAT??? There is fishing at Walt Disney World? YES!!! This is a great addition for those of your party that may not want to be in the parks continuously, but would rather have some down time.
How does this work? This is a catch and release program, but you actually catch real large mouth bass! There are two different options. There are either the NITRO boats which will accommodate 2 people. Or, you can book the pontoon boats and that will accommodate up to 5 people. The guides provide EVERYTHING! Life jackets, bait, fishing poles, and even beverages (non-alcoholic) for your excursion.
You can book either a 2 hour or 4 hour fishing excursion.
Where can you do this you may be asking? These fishing excursions are offered on Bay Lake, Seven Seas Lagoon, Village Lake, Crescent Lake, and even World Showcase Lagoon. The excursions are available to depart from the marinas at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, Disney’s Old Key West Resort, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside, Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, and Disney’s Yacht Club.
Pricing varies depending on time of day and type of boat you book.
Make sure to mention to your travel agent that you are interested in this while planning your vacation.
Reservations are required.
Vintage Amphicars & Italian Water Taxi Tours
Say What? Yes, you can take a 20 minute amphibious car tour from the Boathouse at Disney Springs. Reservations can only be made in person at the dock podium or inside the Boathouse at Disney Springs. This is a vintage 1960’s car that will drive into the water for your tour and then drive back out upon completion. Even if you aren’t going to take this adventure it sure is fun to watch!
Now what about the Italian Water Taxi Tours? There are the Venezia Champagne Cruises as well as the Venezia Wine-Tasting Cruises. For the Champagne Cruise, they offer a 30 minute or 60 minute cruise. The Wine-Tasting Cruise is offered on weekends. Reservations are required for both of these tours. Limited walk up reservations may be available, but make sure to let your travel agent know that you are interested in one of these water experiences.
Golf! Both regular golf, foot golf, and miniature golf
Walt Disney World offers four different golf courses – Disney’s Lake Buena Vista Golf Course at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa, and Disney’s Magnolia Golf Course, Disney’s Oak Trail Golf Course, and Disney’s Palm Golf Course – all near Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort.
Disney’s Oak Trail Golf Course offers a 9 hole walking course. Otherwise, play 18 holes of golf. With your greens fees, includes the use of a golf cart that comes with GPS technology that shows realistic images of hazards, yardages, hole diagrams and more.
What is foot golf? This is something new to Walt Disney World. It’s played along side regular golf but with a soccer ball and a much larger hole. This is available at Disney’s Oak Trail Golf Course and is a 9 hole walking course.
Reservations are strongly encouraged, but not required for tee times on the 4 main golf courses.
Lastly there is miniature golf which can be purchased separately, used as one of your magical extras, or with the park hopper plus option. Winter Summerland Mini-golf is near Blizzard Beach and is an 18 whole miniature golf course. Reservations are not required but talk to your agent if this is something you want to include in your itinerary.
