The actual park bench from Griffith Park merry-go-round in Los Angeles where Walt first dreamed of Disneyland

Disneyland in Anaheim California is the original park created and walked in by Walt Disney himself. Although he had the dream and vision for Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida, he died before opening day. If you want to learn all about Walt’s dream for Disneyland as well as hear the stories of how Disneyland came to be you will want to book the Walk in Walt’s Footsteps Tour.

Disneyland and Disney’s California Adventure are the two theme parks at the Disneyland Resort. Disneyland also has 3 hotels on the property; Disneyland Hotel, Disney’s Grand Californian, and Disney’s Paradise Pier;  as well as many “Good Neighbor Hotels” nearby. The Disneyland Resort is smaller than Walt Disney World but don’t judge it by its size! Disneyland has 43 attractions compared to the Magic Kingdom’s 32.

Although you will find some of your favorite attractions at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World, you will find some very unique and amazing attractions that are ONLY at the Disneyland Resort. Some of my favorites are California Screamin’, Radiator Springs Racers, the World of Color,  and Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin. You will also find there are some attractions that are on both coasts BUT don’t be fooled, t hey are a little different. Which Pirates of the Caribbean, Haunted Mansion, Space Mountain, or Big Thunder Mountain do you like better?

One of the amazing things about the Disneyland Resort IS its smaller size. To be able to walk from the resort, through Downtown Disney and right into Disneyland is a family’s dream! Taking little ones back for naps or a swim in the pool is super easy. With the Downtown Disney area full of restaurants right outside your door there is plenty of fun for the adults too!

If you are planning a Disneyland vacation, especially coming from the east coast, don’t forget we can add lots of other exciting adventures on to your Disney vacation such as Universal Studios, Legoland, or even a few days in the San Diego area to take in beaches and Sea World.
