Coronado Springs

Coronado SpringsCoronado Springs, added in 1997, is a moderate resort modeled after Mexico and the southwest United States. It is located on the southwest corner of the Walt Disney World Property and is close to the Animal Kingdom. The beautiful lobby is large and has a beautiful fountain. Coronado SpringsCoronado Springs also has over 220,000 square feet of convention space making it one of the largest areas at the Disney Resort for conventions. There is also a separate check in area near the convention area for convention guests.

Coronado Springs has just under 2,000 rooms surrounding Lago Dorado broken up into 3 distinct areas; Casitas, Ranchos, and Cabanas.  The Casitas area is what you would think of when you see a tour brochure of Mexico. This area is thCoronado Springse largest area and closest area to the convention center. It is also where the small fitness center is located. (Coronado Springs is the only moderate resort that has a fitness center) The Ranchos area is in the middle and is modeled after the desert. You will notice a big difference in the plants and landscape in this area. This area is also behind the Dig Site and the large Mayan Pyramid that houses the theme pool for this resort. The third area, Cabanas, is modeled after coastal Mexico. This area is lush and beautiful. There is a pool in each section and also the main feature pool located near the Mayan Dig Site playground for a total of 4 pools.

Coronado SpringsMost of the rooms are typical rooms but because of the convention center there are a limited number of suites available. Each typical rooCoronado Springsm has 2 queen beds or 1 king bed and can sleep up to 4 guests. You will find a sliding door between the room and the vanity area (typically a curtain in other moderate resorts).  There is a ceiling fan and a desk as well. You will find an expanded room service menu compared to the other moderate resorts. They offer dinner and snacks from 4pm-midnight. Different room categories mainly refer to location and view (aside from 1 and 2 bedroom suites) with the room being very similar in layout and size to a typical room.

Pepper Market

Pepper Market

Coronado Springs offers both quick service and table service locations. In the main building you will find the Pepper Market. There is a single entrance where you come in and order your food. After you pay your food it will be brought to you. Be sure to remember you may need to add a small gratuity to your bill. They are open for breakfast, lunch,

and dinner. There is also a delicious table service restaurant called the Maya Grill. This beautiful restaurant brings together 3 elements of the Mayan culture; sun, fire, and water in motion. You will find all 3 elements in this restaurant. The menu is new Latin cuisine and they serve dinner (and sometimes breakfast). Again, appealing to the convention guests, Coronado Springs has a lounge called Rix Lounge. You can get breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks here. This lounge is unique to the moderate resorts and has swinging couches and a small dance floor.

Coronado Springs offers bus transportation to all the theme parks, water parks, and Coronado Springsdowntown Disney. Because of the size of the resort there are 4 bus stops around the perimeter of the resort, one at each section including the main building, instead of 1 central bus stop. This is a similar set up to Port Orleans Riverside and Caribbean Beach.

I have stayed in buildings 1 and 9 casitas and cabanas. I loved both for their closeness to the main lobby area and the restaurants and lounge. Building 9 though is probably my favorite. It is close but also quiet at the same time. I loved the breakfast buffet at maya grill and pepper market is so unique. I can’t wait to stay here again!
